There's Nothing You Can Do That Can't be Done...

There's Nothing You Can Do That Can't be Done.. These are the words of The Beatles from the song, "All You Need Is Love", and for me they have become an anthem for my life.

In 2003 I was a fat, lazy man, who's only source of exercise was walking from the recliner to the refrigerator. Oh I tried to convince myself that everything was OK, but deep inside, I knew otherwise.

Then at the end of 2003, my wife Brenda and I embarked on a journey that was for me at least, life altering. I went from a overweight, unhealthy and out of shape person to a fit, healthy and active man.

Since the time I started my journey of rediscovery and re-enlightenment, I have done things that I never imagined I could do;

16 Marathons (including the Boston marathon)
15 Half-Marathons
2 Half-Ironman distance triathlons
Numerous olympic and Sprint distance triathlons
A number of 60 -100 mile bike events
Climb to to top of Half Dome in Yosemite National Park
Swam with Whale Sharks at the Georgia Aquarium
Became Open Water Dive Certified

And at 53 I see no signs of slowing down. In 2010 I am planning on doing 3 more marathons (including the NYC Marathon) and 3 more half-marathons as well as numerous other running and cycling events. And if things go as planned, in 2011, I hope to do my first Ironman distance event.

So as I move forward in life, I just keep thinking to myself..

There's nothing you can do that can't be done.

Nothing you can say but you can learn how to play the game
